Hairbond Has Landed at Lather & Fade
Independent ownership. Proper barbering. Shared standards.
Hairbond has a new home in Indiana.
Our products have now arrived at Lather & Fade, the independent barbershop group built by Jose Oropeza and his team.
This is not simply another wholesale account.
It is the beginning of a partnership between two independent businesses that believe barbering should still mean something.
Built behind the chair
Lather & Fade began in Elkhart in 2013.
The group later expanded into Granger and South Bend, near the University of Notre Dame.
That growth was not created in a corporate boardroom.
It was built one customer at a time.
One haircut at a time.
One barber at a time.
The doors must open every morning. The standards must remain high. Every customer must leave looking and feeling better than when they arrived.
Then the team must do it all again tomorrow.
Lather & Fade has grown because people trust it.
That tells us more than any corporate presentation ever could.
Continuing a barbering tradition
The South Bend shop occupies premises that had been home to a barbershop since 1975.
For decades, the building housed Armando’s Barbershop, a respected local institution run by Armando Femia and his son Chris.
Its chairs welcomed generations of customers, including former Indiana governor Joe Kernan, former South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg and legendary Notre Dame football coaches Ara Parseghian and Lou Holtz.
When Armando’s moved, Jose did not simply see an empty unit.
He saw a tradition worth continuing.
His customers had already been asking when Lather & Fade would come to South Bend. When the opportunity appeared, he took it.
Jose and his family renovated the shop, raising the ceiling and introducing exposed brick, black accents, vintage sporting details and traditional barber chairs.
The history remained.
But the next chapter became Lather & Fade’s own.
Respect the past.
Improve the present.
Build something worthy of the future.
That is a philosophy Hairbond understands.
The right home for Hairbond
Hairbond was created behind the chair.
We understood that professional products had to do more than look convincing in an advertisement. They had to perform in the hands of working barbers and hairdressers.
The hold had to last.
The finish had to look right.
The fragrance had to be memorable.
The packaging had to feel worthy of the shop selling it.
That is why we are careful about where Hairbond is stocked.
We do not want to be everywhere.
We want to be in the right places.
Old-school standards
Lather & Fade offers classic haircuts, modern fades, hot-towel services, beard work and straight-razor shaves.
But old-school barbering does not mean being trapped in the past.
It means keeping the standards that should never have disappeared.
A proper consultation.
Attention to detail.
Good conversation.
Pride in the finish.
A customer leaving the chair with more confidence than when they entered it.
Hairbond was built around the same belief.
Our products are made for the hair being cut today, but the principle behind them remains timeless.
Make something properly.
Stand behind it.
Never take the customer’s trust for granted.
We only work with the best
For us, the best does not simply mean the biggest.
It does not mean the business with the largest advertising budget or the most polished corporate language.
The best shops are the ones that care.
They care about the consultation.
They care about the details around the ears.
They care about the finish.
They care about what happens after the customer leaves the chair.
When a barber places a product into someone’s hand, that barber is putting their own reputation behind it.
We never forget that.
Lather & Fade has built its business around the same principles that shaped Hairbond: skill, service, personality and pride in the work.
That makes it exactly the kind of business we want beside our name.
Growth without losing character
Growth can weaken a business.
The first shop carries the owner’s personality. As the business expands, those values must survive without becoming a corporate instruction manual.
That takes leadership.
It means finding good people.
It means teaching them properly.
It means trusting them to represent the name when the owner cannot stand behind every chair.
Lather & Fade has grown, but it has remained a barber business.
That distinction matters.
Hairbond is growing too, but we have no intention of becoming another faceless product company.
We would rather build carefully with strong partners than chase rapid distribution through businesses that do not understand us.
A committed group of barbers is worth more than hundreds of indifferent shelves.
Independent businesses need each other
The professional hair industry is becoming increasingly corporate.
Large chains replace personality with systems.
Mass retailers sell products without the professional advice needed to use them properly.
Global companies buy shelf space and pretend distribution is the same thing as respect.
It is not.
Respect is earned behind the chair.
Independent barbershops understand their customers because they serve them personally.
Independent brands understand their products because they helped create them.
When those businesses support each other, the whole industry becomes stronger.
Lather & Fade will not simply place Hairbond products on a shelf.
Its barbers will introduce them, explain how to use them and help customers choose the right product for their hair.
No algorithm can replace that conversation.
No supermarket shelf can reproduce it.
The products have arrived
Hairbond is now available through Lather & Fade in Indiana.
Customers can discover professional styling products created for texture, volume, control and confidence.
More importantly, they can discover them through barbers who understand hair.
That is how professional products should be sold.
Through skill.
Through conversation.
Through trust.
Welcome to Hairbond
We are proud to welcome Jose and the entire Lather & Fade team to Hairbond.
They have built a respected independent group.
They have created opportunities for barbers.
They have earned the trust of their customers.
They have also helped continue a barbering tradition near Notre Dame that began in 1975.
Now Hairbond is part of its next chapter.
We only work with the best because every business carrying our products becomes part of our reputation.
Lather & Fade has earned its place.
Welcome to Hairbond.

This is fantastic Scott 👍💪👊💙
