There is an easy way to grow a brand.
Find a distributor.
Send stock.
Chase volume.
Discount it.
Get it everywhere.
Then call it growth.
I have never liked that.
I would rather see Hairbond in the right 50 barbershops than the wrong 5,000.
Because where you sell a brand matters.
It tells people what that brand is.
That is why Mark Weston matters to Hairbond.
Mark
Mark has worked with us for years.
He is our Czech distributor.
But he is not a box mover.
He is a hairdresser.
A proper one.
He understands the chair.
The client.
The barber.
The awkward moment when somebody recommends a product and then waits to see if it actually works.
That is the bit people in offices forget.
A barber puts his reputation on the line every time he recommends something.
If the product is rubbish, the customer does not blame the warehouse.
He blames the barber.
Mark understands that.
That is why I trust him.
He knows hair.
He knows hairdressers.
And he is a great guy.
That matters too.
Hairbond Has Earned Its Place
Hairbond is not new to the Czech Republic.
It has history there.
It has been stocked by respected barbershops and salons including Gentlemen’s Barber Club, Gentlemen Brothers, Barber Shop Society, Creative Cut, Barbershop Urban, Exclusive Barbershop, Jiné Holičství, and POP Hair Salon.
Prague.
Brno.
Beyond.
That did not happen because somebody bought a clever ad.
It happened because people used the products.
Liked them.
Recommended them.
Then bought them again.
That is how brands are really built.
Hairbond has also been worn by Czech celebrities.
Good.
But the bit I care about most is still the barber using it at nine in the morning when nobody is watching.
That is credibility.
Born Behind the Chair
I started Hairbond in 2008.
I was a hairdresser.
I did not sit in a boardroom and invent a target market.
I had clients.
I had products in my hand.
I knew what worked.
I knew what did not.
I knew most men wanted the same things.
Good hold.
Good texture.
A good smell.
Something they could wash out.
Something they would come back for.
Not complicated.
Just good.
Nearly twenty years later, I still think the same way.
Why You Will Not Find Hairbond in Supermarkets
We have chosen not to sell Hairbond through supermarkets.
That costs us volume.
Fine.
Volume is not everything.
Hairbond belongs in good barbershops.
Good salons.
Specialist retailers.
Places where somebody knows what they are selling.
I do not want Hairbond sitting between toothpaste and washing powder with a yellow discount sticker on it.
That is not snobbery.
It is positioning.
Put a brand everywhere and it stops feeling special.
Simple.
I want someone to walk into a great barber in Prague, see Hairbond on the shelf and think:
They sell the good stuff here.
That is worth protecting.
Mark Helped Build That
This is the part people rarely see.
The person on the ground.
The person making the calls.
The person building the relationships.
The person still there years later.
Mark has done that for Hairbond in the Czech Republic.
He has represented the brand.
Introduced it to hairdressers.
Worked with barbers.
Supported stockists.
And kept going.
Business loves the new deal.
The shiny announcement.
The handshake photo.
I have learned to value the people who stay.
Mark stayed.
That counts.
The Next Stage
We are growing Hairbond again.
New products.
New energy.
More international ambition.
But I do not want to lose what made the brand work in the first place.
We are looking for more partners in the Czech Republic.
Not every shop.
The right shops.
Good independent barbers.
Good salons.
Good specialist retailers.
People who care about what sits on their shelves.
People who know their customers.
People who understand that a brand is easy to cheapen and hard to rebuild.
Prague.
Brno.
Ostrava.
Plzeň.
And anywhere else where somebody is doing great work.
If that is you, talk to us.
The Right Doors
Hairbond is British.
It should always feel British.
But good brands travel.
They travel because good people carry them.
Mark has done that in the Czech Republic.
A British hairdresser in Prague.
Czech barbers.
Czech customers.
One brand.
Built slowly.
Built properly.
Not every door.
The right doors.
